VPS Healthcare was established in 2007 in the form of LLH Hospital in Abu Dhabi, which was to be the first facility in its exponentially growing pharmaceutical network. Fast forward to 2011, and LIFEPharma was founded, with the ambition and intention of entering into a global market for pharmaceutical formulation by late 2016.
Keeping this vision in mind, LIFEPharma bought the Jebel Ali Free Zone manufacturing facility from a local player in order to to expand its offering. The facility was jointly owned by the local player and an Indian generic pharmaceutical giant. As this facility was closed for more than 3 years, LIFEPharma were responsible for the renovation, upgrading of technology and the renewal of registration.
Upon purchase, the manufacturing facility had a steady capacity of 300 million tablets, 50 million capsules and 15 million liquids. As a result of the renovation work completed by LIFEPharma and the implementation of American and European technology in the manufacturing process, capacity was increased to 1 billion tablets, 300 million capsules and 150 million liquids.
Pharmaceutical formulation is a long gestation business as it requires plant and product approval by each and every country it operates in, particularly the one it is based in. By meeting strict international requirements along with escalating production, LIFEPharma was granted access to do business in Europe, USA, Brazil, Russia, Mexico, China, Japan, Korea, India, Australia, South Africa, and Saudi Arabia.
Today, LIFEPharma has a rich client base of more than 80 customers globally, including various multinational companies. The completion, by late 2016 of a state-of-the-art Oncology Formulation facility, based in KIZAD, will firmly cement LIFEPharma as a multi-faceted, global pharmaceutical company for the future.
